REFLECTION
TASK
In this project, I used Figma software to recreate a website I found online. Since it was a passion project, I had the freedom to adjust the branding and design of the homepage as I saw fit. My main goal was to learn and experiment with Figma's tools by creating a new design for Pennyjuice. This allowed me to explore a variety of Figma's features.
Through this project, I became more skilled in using Figma's tools for different design aspects like layout, typography, colors, and interactive elements. Overall, this experience helped me boost my confidence in my design abilities and better understand how to create engaging digital designs.
METHODOLOGY
Similarly to Adobe XD you can set up your designs as prototypes which means users can interact with the design.To start your design you need to create a new frame as a designer this is useful as there are different screen sizes available which is important for responsive design. Using figma gives a true representation of the correct proportions for different screen sizes and uses. Figma allows you to set up multiple frames allowing for various designs and concepts to come together within one workspace. With all the design work within one workspace it means you can use assets across the various screens and see how your designs and styles would work adaptively across a number of devices.
Once frames are set up you are able to go ahead in placing your components onto the frames for example blocks, images, shapes, text and background colours.
REFLECTION
The experience of using Figma to develop Pennyjuice's homepage was a bit challenging for me. As I'm more accustomed to working with Adobe XD for interface designs, I initially encountered some frustration while navigating Figma's tools and functionalities. The learning curve made me realise my slower pace in adapting to Figma's environment.
Despite the initial challenges, if I were to extend this project, I would see it as an opportunity to enhance my proficiency in Figma. I believe that with continued practice, I could overcome the initial hurdles and become more adept at utilising Figma's features. This growth would empower me to tackle more intricate and elaborate designs, pushing the boundaries of my skills while embracing the versatility Figma offers.
